About Kaaijk Metaalbewerking

350 years of craftsmanship. From the forge De Drie Gekroonde Hamers to a modern workshop on the Daalderweg in Zaandam.

Our story

One of the oldest businesses in Zaandam

Our business started in 1676 as the forge De Drie Gekroonde Hamers. In 1890 the forge was sold to Nicolaas Kaaijk, after which the business stayed in the family for generations. In 1993 it passed to his great-grandson, Jan Willem Kaaijk.

In 2018 Luuk Jonker took over the business, which was then still called Nico Kaaijk Metaalbewerking. By that time Luuk had already worked there for more than eleven years and had learned the trade from Jan Willem. Together with his colleagues Mick, Martijn, Nino and Harry he continues the craftsmanship of the Kaaijk family.

As the business grew, we moved from the centre of Zaandam to the Daalderweg. There we built a new workshop in 2022, with plenty of room to enjoy making the finest projects.

The workshop

Forging the old way, working to today's standards

In our workshop we still forge the traditional way, with coal fire, hammer and anvil. At the same time we make sleek custom work in steel, stainless steel, aluminium and Corten steel: from steel doors and stairs to steel structures, furniture and art objects. We like to combine steel with wood or glass.

Kaaijk Metaalbewerking is EN 1090-2 certified and a member of the Royal Metaalunie. We work for private customers and businesses, and regularly with contractors and artists. Thanks to our network of suppliers, delivery times are short.
